How to choose a specialist¶
Match the capability to your clinical need before you weigh location. Geography is a filter — never a recommendation hierarchy. This page gives the criteria-first approach used throughout the knowledgebase.
Match your need to a capability¶
| Clinical need | Look for | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Residual / relapsed deformity after childhood surgery | Fellowship-trained orthopaedic foot & ankle surgeon with adult complex-deformity / revision volume | Anatomy is scarred after prior release; standard approaches may not apply |
| Threatened limb, osteomyelitis, failed prior reconstruction | Limb-salvage / preservation program with ortho + plastics + vascular + infectious disease | Coordinated decision-making reduces fragmented care |
| Chronic non-healing wounds (including non-diabetic) | Dedicated wound center with debridement, biologics, off-loading; HBOT when indicated | Wound-bed optimization often precedes or accompanies reconstruction |
| Multi-system adult sequelae | A center that can assemble the full multidisciplinary team | Deformity, perfusion, soft tissue, and rehabilitation interact |
